What are clusters?

We’re all about offering you different ways to work. We’ve had some questions about how and why we sometimes offer you orders from nearby zones – we call zones like this a cluster.

So what is a cluster?

In some places, we’ll open up orders from nearby zones to give you more choice in the deliveries you make. Your cluster is the group of zones you can be offered orders for.

Here’s an example: if restaurants in Glasgow Central (GLC) have lots of orders, we may offer some of these orders to riders in Glasgow West End (GWE).

It’s a win-win. Customers don’t have to wait for riders to be freed up, so will get their food quicker. And you get more orders to choose from.

Sure, some of these restaurants may be further away, but we want to offer you as many orders as possible, so you have more choice about how you want to work. And remember, with distance-based fees, the longer orders will be paid more.

So what does it look like?

  • You can log in anywhere in your cluster – so you don’t need to worry about going back to your original zone if you’ve got a new session starting soon.
  • You can receive orders anywhere in your cluster, regardless of where you logged in or where your session is booked – which ones you choose to accept is entirely up to you.

You’ll see the customer’s location in the app, which means you can choose which direction you head in. If you want to end your session near where you started, you can accept an order that takes you back in the right direction.

What are the clusters in London?

Each line in the table shows a cluster and the zones in it. If there’s only one zone shown on a line, it’s not part of a cluster.
